Page title: "DNA testing" or "Genetic testing"?[edit | edit source]

Maybe the page should be moved to "Genetic testing" as a more familiar term? (The Wikipedia article on this topic uses this term, and describes "DNA testing" as a synonym.) -- Madprime (talk) 22:09, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

Make sure to keep the unchosen as a redirect.DG (talk)
I think moving to Genetic testing sounds good, as it's indeed a more familiar term. - Gedankenstuecke (talk) 08:27, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
OK, done! Yes, I left a redirect for DNA testing 👍 - Madprime (talk) 17:19, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

Microbiome analyses[edit | edit source]

I was about to start adding some content on microbiome analyses to this article, but then I wondered whether we think it's the right place. It's a kind of genetic testing, even if it's conceptually different from the own genome. How do people feel about it? Putting it into this article (at least for now) or making a separate article from the start? - Gedankenstuecke (talk) 08:27, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

Although "yes microbiome analysis is also DNA", I think "genetic testing" and "DNA testing" are almost universally used to refer to the individual organism's genome (typically human 😉) rather than genetic material of associated microbiota (or viruses, for that matter). I think it would be better to have a separate page, possibly including a link via a "hatnote" (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:For). - Madprime (talk) 17:19, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
